Job summary

Burns & McDonnell Kansas City seeks a Senior Architect to lead multidisciplinary teams for Aerospace & Industrial facilities, including cleanrooms and secure spaces. You will translate complex workflows into architectural programs and coordinate across disciplines to deliver projects from programming through construction.

You will apply advanced knowledge of codes, life-safety, and accessibility while guiding design teams, managing scope, budget, and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited program with 8 years related experience.
• Master Degree in Architecture from NAAB accredited program with 7 years related experience.
• Registered architect preferred.
• Portfolio demonstrating design and graphic presentation skills preferred.
• Expert knowledge of building codes, ADA standards, exterior envelope design, detailing, and specification writing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a problem-solving environment with critical thinking.
• Expert BIM, Adobe Suite, and 3D rendering software knowledge.
• Experience leading design teams for large, complex projects.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design from programming through construction completion for Aerospace & Industrial projects.
• Develop, modify, and review drawings, specifications, studies, and design criteria for cleanrooms and controlled environments; secure spaces; assembly and manufacturing facilities.
• Translate client processes, equipment layouts, material and personnel flows into architectural programs and coordinated design solutions.
• Lead planning for complex industrial adjacencies including production flow and maintainability.
• Coordinate with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, process, security, and specialty systems.
• Participate in scope, schedule, budget, staffing, procurement, phasing, and construction planning.
• Apply knowledge of codes, life-safety, accessibility, and construction practices to complex facilities.
• Develop non-standard design solutions for facilities with specialized controls and security.
• Perform quality reviews of documents and data for compliance and coordination.
• Lead architectural construction administration and field verification.
• Lead field surveys and condition assessments in active environments while complying with safety and access rules.
• Prepare and present concepts, reports, and analyses to clients and stakeholders.
• Build relationships with clients and partners to support long-term growth.
• Participate in sales and marketing for aerospace and industrial pursuits.
• Lead cost proposals and qualification statements.
• Provide leadership to the architectural practice and mentor staff.
• Ensure QA/QC and adherence to safety and access-control policies.
