Base pay range

$90,667.00/yr - $116,637.00/yr

If hired provisionally in this title, you must take and pass the Civil Service Exam, when available, to be eligible for continued employment.

The Department of Social Services (DSS) includes the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA aims to fight poverty and income inequality by providing benefits like Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS works to prevent and address homelessness through innovative strategies to help families and individuals exit shelters and regain self-sufficiency.

HRA/General Support Services (GSS) provides facilities for social service programs, including planning, design, construction, maintenance, safety, lease management, environmental review, contract administration, and warehouse operations. GSS also plays a key role in emergency preparedness.

The Facilities Operations (FO) Bureau of Space and Design (BSD), Division of Architecture & Engineering (DAE), is recruiting for one (1) Architect II, functioning as Senior Architect, who will:

• Manage architectural work related to the Agency’s construction program.
• Develop project scope and cost estimates.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Review contracts and architectural plans.
• Coordinate projects from conception to completion.
• Prepare sketches and layouts.
• Research building materials and systems for use in capital projects.
• Participate in inspections and prepare punch lists.
• Sign and seal official documents.
• Interpret Building Code and Zoning Resolution for non-technical staff.
• File projects with DOB, DEP, CPC, and FDNY to meet initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid New York State Registration as an Architect, maintained throughout employment.
• At least one year of recent experience as a major contributor or project leader on complex projects, with specific expertise in design or construction, for placement in Assignment Levels II and III.
