Job summary

GAC 2022 is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist II in Michigan to handle advanced AR activities, including complex billing research, cash application, and account reconciliation. You will support rate increases, advance deposits, financial reporting, audits, and process improvements.

As a senior member of the AR team, you will guide colleagues, help with cross-training, and ensure accurate customer balances and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, billing, cash application and reconciliation processes.
• Ability to independently research and resolve complex customer account and payment discrepancies.
• Understanding of commercial billing requirements including multi-location accounts, PO usage, and invoicing.
• Knowledge of unapplied cash management, payment corrections, and advance deposits.
• Intermediate Excel skills for financial data review, analysis and reporting.
• Experience with ERP/CRM and financial transaction systems.
• Analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret customer account histories and supporting documentation.
• Judgment on exceptions, authorization and escalation.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Associate degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
• 3+ years in AR/billing or related finance operations.

Responsibilities

• Research and resolve complex billing discrepancies and account adjustments.
• Reconcile customer activity including invoices, payments, credits and other billing transactions.
• Manage specialized billing requirements for commercial and multi-location customers.
• Process complex account adjustments and debits/credits per guidelines.
• Review remittance information and open invoices for accurate payment application.
• Investigate discrepancies and uncaptured payments; resolve unapplied cash.
• Coordinate with teams and vendors to manage invoice files and communications.
• Generate and review recurring AR, billing, sales and financial reports.
