Job summary

Relativity Applied Science is seeking a Staff Applied Scientist to tackle the toughest document-vision problems inside aiR. You will own multimodal document understanding from vision-language modeling to evaluation standards, ensuring defensible evidence for legal work.

You will mentor scientists, define standards, oversee readiness of flagship AI systems, and advise leadership on where to invest, working in a remote/hybrid setup with strong rigor and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in computer science or quantitative discipline with at least 6 years of applied AI/ML experience.
• Experience shipping AI/ML systems at scale in collaboration with engineers.
• Strong judgment about AI systems and measurement of their limits.

Responsibilities

• Tackle the hardest problems in the document-vision portfolio and deliver clear specifications and shippable systems.
• Set cross-team evaluation methods, modeling patterns, and quality bars.
• Own readiness for flagship AI systems from framing to production monitoring.
• Mentor senior and lead scientists to multiply impact.
• Advise leadership on future science directions and investments.
