Job summary

Relativity is seeking a Staff Applied Scientist to tackle the hardest problems in document vision and set standards that reach beyond a single team. You’ll own the science of multimodal document understanding and lead evaluation standards from vision-language modeling to defensible evidence extraction.

You’ll mentor senior scientists, partner with engineers, and influence research directions while ensuring reliability and rigor in production AI systems.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in computer science or another quantitative discipline (or equivalent professional experience), and at least 6 years of applied AI/ML experience.
• Proven production AI/ML experience: systems you specified, shipped, and operated at scale with engineers.
• Expert judgment about AI systems; you’ve built and measured them and understand their limits.
• Scientific rigor; you supervise data understanding, evaluations, and analyses.
• Software-engineering judgment and hands-on prototyping ability.

Responsibilities

• Take on the hardest, most ambiguous problems and produce a clear, shippable solution.
• Set evaluation methods, modeling patterns, and quality bars used by other teams.
• Own readiness for flagship AI systems from framing to production monitoring.
• Mentor senior and lead scientists to multiply impact.
• Advise leadership on future science directions and investments.
