Job summary

Samsara is seeking an applied scientist to join the Machine Learning / Computer Vision team. You will generate insights from customer interactions and sensor data to improve safety, efficiency and product outcomes for our Connected Operations Cloud.

The role is fully remote for US residents, with travel up to 5%. Base salary range is publicly listed with RSU opportunities; relocation is not offered at this time.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in CS or similar with 5+ years in Applied Scientist/ML Engineer/CV roles
• PhD in CS or quantitative field with 3+ years in CV
• Strong proficiency in languages (C++, Go, Java, Python)
• Proficiency with Spark, TensorFlow, PyTorch
• Familiarity with managing data processing and ML code via GitHub
• Excellent problem-solving and collaborative skills

Responsibilities

• Build and improve the accuracy of ML/CV models, including retraining and optimization
• Work with petabyte-scale sensor data to develop new models
• Optimize models for inference on backend and edge devices
• Collaborate with firmware and full-stack teams to deploy models
• Stay connected to research to adopt novel technologies
• Translate customer needs into ML/CV solutions with product teams
• Embodiment of Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally
