Job summary

Samsara is hiring a senior Safety AI leader to take models from research to production on edge devices and cloud systems. You will architect end-to-end computer vision pipelines for real-world safety detection, and drive the roadmap for edge and cloud perception while partnering with hardware teams to co-design the stack.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in CS/EE/Robotics/CV.
• 10+ years as a scientist or ML engineer, with production experience.
• Deep expertise in computer vision for real-world environments.
• Experience with multimodal perception and sensor fusion.
• Experience with transformer-based architectures and vision-language models.
• Experience deploying real-time or edge ML systems.
• Ability to drive research-to-production deployments at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of Safety AI initiatives including real-time perception across edge devices and cloud.
• Architect end-to-end computer vision pipelines for real‑world safety detection.
• Drive the technical roadmap for edge and cloud perception and optimize deployments on constrained hardware.
• Partner closely with hardware and firmware teams to co‑design the full stack.
• Work with petabyte‑scale multimodal data to train production models.
• Mentor and technically guide senior scientists and engineers across the team.
• Bring clarity to ambiguous problems by translating customer and business needs into solvable engineering challenges.
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale.
