Job summary

Samsara is hiring a Senior ML Engineer to own cloud-side ML backend systems for Safety AI. You’ll design low-latency ML APIs, build scalable data pipelines, and productionize model artifacts handed off by scientists. You’ll work with firmware and platform teams to optimize end-to-end model execution across edge-to-cloud architectures.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role with production deployments.
• Strong proficiency in one or more languages (C++, Golang, Java, Python, Scala).
• Experience deploying and refining models using real customer feedback loops.
• Comfort with full-stack/backend development and understanding of data structures.

Responsibilities

• Design Production ML APIs to integrate model outputs into cloud applications.
• Build scalable data flywheels and evaluation pipelines for rapid iteration.
• Productionize model artifacts and optimize serving for various workloads.
• Handle petabyte-scale camera and sensor data to support model execution and dataset curation.
• Monitor model drift, precision/recall, and latency in production; ensure reliable rollout health.
• Collaborate with firmware and platform teams to balance latency, throughput, and cost.
