Job summary

Samsara is a leading Connected Operations™ Cloud company seeking an applied scientist to derive insights from customer interactions and massive sensor data. This remote US role may require travel up to 5%.

You will contribute to ML/CV initiatives that power our product pillars and drive scalable innovation. You will build and optimize models, handle petabyte-scale data, and collaborate with firmware and full-stack teams to deploy solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and reliability for

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years in Applied Scientist/ML/CV roles.
• PhD in CS or quantitative discipline (e.g., Applied Math, Physics, Statistics) with 3+ years in CV.
• Proficiency in C++, Golang, Java, Python.
• Familiarity with Spark, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Familiarity with managing data processing and ML code via GitHub.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve the accuracy of ML/CV models, including retraining and optimization.
• Work on four product categories: video-based safety, vehicle telematics, equipment monitoring, workforce apps and Site Visibility.
• Work with petabyte-scale data from cameras and sensors to develop new models.
• Optimize models for inference on backend and edge devices.
• Partner with firmware and full-stack teams to deploy models for performance and cost.
• Translate customer needs to ML/CV solutions with product teams.
• Embed Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.
