Job summary

Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC seeks an Assistant Technical Applications Manager to lead hands-on engineering across industrial gas detection, automation, and control systems. You will design solutions, troubleshoot field issues, and support customers from design through commissioning in demanding environments.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering teams, development of product enhancements, and direct customer interaction in field deployments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in applications engineering, controls, automation, or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with installations, startup, commissioning, and field support.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley and/or IDEC PLCs and HMIs.
• Strong knowledge of Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP.
• Experience with 4–20mA, 0–5V, 0–10V, relay logic, and related instrumentation.
• Familiarity with hazardous-location installations (Class I/II/III) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead system design activities including control architecture and automation strategies.
• Configure, program, troubleshoot, and support PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
• Manage technical projects from concept through testing, installation, startup, and commissioning.
• Provide on-site commissioning and field support at customer facilities.
• Develop technical proposals, quotations, system documentation, and operating manuals.
• Train customers on system operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and best practices.
• Review field service reports for technical accuracy and status.
• Establish and maintain application engineering procedures and standards.
