Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Field Specialist, API Monetization to own technical conversations with customers on API usage, pricing, and sizing. You will partner with Account Executives throughout the sales cycle as the primary technical contact for API-related discussions.

This Senior IC will forecast usage, defend pricing, and help evolve rate cards and calculators, collaborating closely with Sales, Product Strategy & Operations to ensure pricing integrity and customer value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in a technical, customer-facing, or pricing/consumption-modeling role.
• Deep fluency in APIs, rate limits, and usage-based pricing models.
• Experience partnering with sales teams on complex technical or commercial deals and defending numbers.

Responsibilities

• Partner with AEs on deals involving API usage, rate limits, or platform consumption.
• Serve as the technical expert in customer conversations about API mechanics and usage patterns.
• Use the usage forecasting calculator to size deals and explain the rationale behind numbers.
• Identify accounts for API-related deals based on current usage patterns.
• Meet with customers' technical teams to scope requirements and validate assumptions.
• Maintain and improve the accuracy of the rate card and calculator as products evolve.
• Provide field learnings to product strategy and pricing teams to evolve pricing.
• Create reusable playbooks so AEs can self-serve on simpler deals.
• Advise on and help ensure final API deal terms are structured correctly with AE and Deal Desk.
