Job summary

The Senior Data Engineer - API & AI Gateway Platform Engineer at Mayo Clinic will design, develop, and support enterprise API and AI gateway platforms, leveraging Apigee, GCP, Kubernetes, and Terraform to enable secure, scalable integrations across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will lead architecture decisions, mentor engineers, implement API security with OAuth, JWT, mTLS, and develop CI/CD pipelines, while ensuring governance, observability, and data privacy in alignment with ISM program

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, CS, IT or related field with 5+ years data engineering experience.
• Expertise in API platforms, gateway design and integration patterns.
• Strong scripting and data processing skills, and cloud/hybrid environments experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of enterprise API & AI gateway platform capabilities.
• Build scalable API proxies and services supporting REST and SOAP.
• Implement API security frameworks (OAuth, JWT, API keys, mTLS).
• Develop API governance and lifecycle management standards.
• Support multi-cloud deployments (GCP, Azure, on-prem) and hybrid architectures.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automation for platform deployments.
• Configure traffic policies, monitoring, and observability for APIs.
• Collaborate with teams to translate requirements into scalable API solutions.
• Provide operational support and continuous improvement of API platforms.
