Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a Senior Data Engineer - API & AI Gateway Platform Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise API and AI gateway platforms across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will lead architecture, build scalable proxies and services, enforce security frameworks (OAuth, JWT, API keys, mTLS), govern API lifecycle, and mentor engineers while aligning with enterprise standards and the ISM program.

Qualifications

• Experience designing scalable API gateways and AI gateway platforms.
• Experience with API lifecycle management and security.
• Ability to mentor engineers and influence platform strategy.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of enterprise API & AI gateway capabilities.
• Build and manage scalable API proxies and services for REST/SOAP integrations.
• Implement API security frameworks including OAuth, JWT, API keys, mTLS.
• Develop and maintain enterprise AI gateway services.
• Develop API governance standards and lifecycle management.
• Support deployments across multi-cloud environments (GCP, Azure, on-prem).
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automation for API deployments.
