Job summary

LHH partners with a publicly held life sciences organization in San Diego to recruit a Senior Accountant who will streamline accounts payable processes and support cross-functional teams in a compliance‑driven setting.

The role covers end‑to‑end AP, expense management, vendor setup, international payments, and month‑end close, with opportunities to enhance ERP systems and internal controls within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in accounts payable, procure-to-pay, expense administration, or general accounting.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite, expense management systems, and advanced Excel functions.
• Prior experience in biotechnology, life sciences, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or regulated industries is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with SOX-compliant environments and publicly traded companies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end accounts payable operations including invoice review, processing, vendor disbursements, PO matching, credit memos, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Support and administer employee travel and expense programs per internal policies.
• Manage company credit card activity, monitor spending, address issues, and prepare related reports.
• Coordinate vendor setup and maintenance including banking details, tax forms, and approvals.
• Execute domestic and international payments via ACH, wire, checks, and online banking.
• Assist month-end close with journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, aging reports, and AP analyses.
• Investigate payment, vendor, employee, and banking inquiries with internal/external partners.
• Contribute to 1099 reporting, audit support, and tax documentation.
• Participate in ERP enhancements, automation, workflow improvements and process development.
• Recommend improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen controls for vendors and employees.
