Job summary

Fanatics is hiring an experienced Android engineer to join the Instant Rips team, delivering live-break commerce experiences on Fanatics Live. You’ll ship auctions, chat, and marketplace features built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, ensuring reliability during high-traffic events.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, real-time data handling, and collaboration with product, backend, iOS, and data teams. Mentoring peers and driving architectural quality are core expectations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building consumer Android apps at scale.
• Expert in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with real-time data, WebSocket or streaming.
• Strong testing and CI/CD practices.
• Ability to mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship production Android features across the live-break experience: auctions, stream viewing, chat, marketplace, and collector tools.
• Own features end-to-end — client and API contracts, state and business logic, Compose UI, testing, release, and production health.
• Build real-time experiences that stay responsive through reconnects and peak-load events.
• Write meaningful test coverage across unit, integration, and UI layers.
• Improve performance, stability, accessibility, security, and reliability across Android devices and OS versions.
• Diagnose production issues using observability, analytics, and customer feedback.
• Review PRs, surface defects, and coach on tradeoffs.
• Contribute to architectural decisions around modularization, DI, networking, persistence.
