Job summary

DIRECTV seeks a Sr. Specialist, Advanced Analytics to own end-to-end analytical model lifecycle, from problem framing to deployment and monitoring. You will translate complex outputs into actionable guidance for senior leadership and collaborate with stakeholders across the business.

The role requires expertise in statistical modeling and machine learning, with strong Python/R and SQL skills. You will mentor analysts and drive cross-functional initiatives while adopting newer tools and practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or related field required; Master's preferred.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in statistical modeling, predictive analytics, or data science.
• Advanced expertise in machine learning algorithms (e.g., gradient boosting, random forests) and modeling techniques.
• Expert-level proficiency in R and/or Python, with strong SQL skills.
• Proven experience building production models: CLV, churn, segmentation.
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate analytics into strategy.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with senior stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring junior analysts.
• Experience with DIRECTV's analytical infrastructure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end analytical projects from problem framing to deployment and monitoring.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities and align modeling approaches with objectives.
• Translate model outputs into clear narratives for executive audiences.
• Identify data quality issues and model drift, leading remediation efforts.
• Design, develop, and deploy advanced predictive models independently.
• Establish governance, validation standards, and monitoring for production models.
• Mentor junior analysts on techniques and business communication.
• Lead cross-team analytical initiatives across multiple contributors.
• Stay current with Snowflake, SQL, Databricks, and emerging ML techniques.
• Collaborate with data engineering and IT to support scalable pipelines and tooling.
• Present findings and business impact to leadership and partners.
