Job summary

Backblaze is seeking an analytics engineer to own the transformation layer, turning landed data into governed, certified models. You will design dbt models, define a semantic layer, and deliver data products that support financial reporting with auditable lineage.

You will work with Finance, Revenue Ops, and Marketing to align metric definitions and ownership. This role requires strong SQL, dbt, and data modeling skills in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, BI, or related role.
• Advanced SQL with production-grade, well-tested models.
• Strong dbt experience: staging to marts, tests, docs, CI/CD.
• Experience with modern cloud data warehouses; Snowflake preferred.
• Experience with semantic / metric layers and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own transformation layer: design, build, and maintain dbt models with best practices.
• Build semantic layer and define certified metrics (ARR, MRR, revenue).
• Deliver data products with clear schema, grain, and lineage.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, and observability across pipelines.
• Collaborate with Finance, Revenue Ops, Marketing and BI teams.
