Job summary

Linear is hiring an analytics engineer to turn ambiguous questions into actionable metrics and models. You will build dbt models and pipelines to create trusted views of our product, customers, and business.

You’ll design clear data models, improve testing and performance, and collaborate with Product, GTM, and Engineering to scale analytics using emerging tools and async collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of analytics engineering, data analytics, or data engineering experience.
• Exceptional SQL and hands-on dbt experience with a modern cloud data warehouse.
• End-to-end ownership of data projects from problem framing to shipping.
• Strong data modeling judgment focusing on grain, interfaces, and maintainability.
• Analytical judgment on when to answer quickly or investigate deeply.
• Ability to connect technical work with business context across products.
• High ownership, self-directed and willing to challenge a request.
• Strong communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Comfort with using LLMs and coding agents in day-to-day development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product and GTM to turn ambiguous questions and needs into metrics and analyses.
• Build and maintain dbt models and pipelines for trusted views of product, customers, and business.
• Design clear data models and improve testing, documentation, and performance of the data stack.
• Build dashboards and self-service reporting in Metabase and Hex for broader access.
• Operationalize data through reverse ETL and partner with GTM Engineering on scoring and automations.
• Balance fast answers with durable, reusable models and workflows.
• Explore emerging tools, LLMs, and coding agents to accelerate development while ensuring correctness.
