Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Senior Analytics Data Engineer in a hybrid role with on-site days at select locations including Chicago, IL. You will build automated data delivery solutions for operational reporting and dashboards using modern data architecture.

Responsibilities include designing data models, implementing ETL/ELT with dbt and Azure Data Factory, and migrating SAS solutions to Power BI–driven workflows. Requires 5+ years in data analytics within insurance domain.

Qualifications

• Proficiency developing data pipelines using dbt, GitHub and Airflow (or similar technologies).
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to multi-task and learn large amounts of technical information.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• P&C claims data/analytics experience or any P&C insurance industry experience.
• Hybrid work requirement: location specific.

Responsibilities

• Apply modern data architecture fundamentals including data warehouses, data marts, data lakes, lakehouses.
• Design scalable data models and data delivery solutions for complex projects.
• Evaluate and recommend data delivery technologies to improve maintainability, performance, and usability.
• Build automated data delivery processes for reporting and dashboards using ETL/ELT tools such as dbt and Azure Data Factory.
• Write, debug, and optimize SQL for data pipelines.
• Support migration of SAS solutions to dbt and Power BI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design data models and architectures.
• Automate daily maintenance processes for critical data workflows.
• Assist with data and database migrations, testing and validation.
• Contribute to development standards, testing, and code reviews.
