Job summary

Morningstar DBRS seeks a Senior Analyst to join its Private Corporate Credit team. This role blends financial data analytics, quantitative research, and credit analysis to transform complex data into insights for investment professionals.

You will work with senior analysts to develop high-quality leveraged finance research using data analysis, tools, and financial modeling. You will assess creditworthiness of small to mid-sized, highly leveraged companies and may take on more ratings

Qualifications

• Two to four years of relevant professional experience in financial data analytics, quantitative research, corporate credit analysis, leveraged finance, corporate lending, or a related analytical discipline.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, data analytics, or a related field.
• Progress toward the CFA designation is a plus.
• Strong financial and quantitative analytical skills with experience in financial statements, economic data, and large datasets.
• Experience with time-series and cross-sectional data analysis and applying quantitative methods to markets and credit research.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel with strong Python and SQL for data analysis, manipulation, and reporting.
• Familiarity with Tableau is a plus.
• Experience using AI platforms (Copilot/Claude) to support research and workflow efficiency.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to translate complex data into insights.

Responsibilities

• Source, validate, organize, and analyze financial and economic data across multiple platforms to support research and credit analysis.
• Design, develop, and maintain data structures and analytical tools using Excel, Python, SQL, and other platforms.
• Develop charts, tables, and data visualizations for leveraged finance research and credit publications.
• Apply quantitative methods to identify trends and generate insights across markets.
• Support credit analysis and surveillance of a portfolio of highly leveraged companies.
• Assist in preparing rating committee materials and credit recommendations.
• Build relationships with market participants to support market intelligence and research.
• Help manage a broad portfolio of credits and improve analytical processes, data management, and workflows.
