Job summary

Airwallex is seeking a Senior Compliance Director & MLRO, US, to lead and scale the AMER regional compliance program across the United States, Canada, and growing markets. You will liaise with federal and state regulators, guide licensing efforts, and align product risk with corporate policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant analytical field.
• CAMS certification or equivalent compliance credential.
• 12–15+ years of AML, sanctions and financial crime experience.
• At least 5+ years in senior leadership managing multinational teams.
• Proven interaction with AMER regulators (e.g., FinCEN, NYDFS, state regulators, FINTRAC).
• Experience advising on product rollouts and US state money transmitter licensing.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale the AMER regional compliance team with global standards.
• Serve as primary regulatory liaison for the AMER region with federal and state authorities.
• Oversee regional compliance operations and reporting within state jurisdictions.
• Monitor BSA/AML, sanctions, and regulatory developments and escalate to Global Policy.
• Provide formal compliance sign-off on high-risk decisions and escalations.
• Advise product and licensing strategies to enable safe market entry.
• Develop and deploy regional financial crime training curricula.
