Job summary

Airwallex seeks a Senior Director, AML & Sanctions, Governance & Policy to shape and scale our global financial crime policy and risk program. You will collaborate with executives to set risk appetite, define governance, and embed policy thresholds across the platform, while guiding a diverse, global team.

You will interact with the Chief Regulatory and Compliance Officer and Global Head of FCC to turn regulatory trends into actionable strategies, ensuring robust controls and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related analytical field is required.
• CAMS certification or equivalent compliance credential (e.g., ICA) is required.
• 12–15+ years in AML, sanctions, and financial crime compliance in financial services, fintech, payments, or banking.
• At least 5+ years leading a global or multi-jurisdictional compliance policy/risk function.

Responsibilities

• Lead the evolution and maintenance of Airwallex's Global Core FCC Policy Framework to meet regulators' expectations.
• Define and oversee the FCC governance model and risk management framework.
• Develop methodologies and data-scoring models to identify and mitigate financial crime risks globally.
• Translate audit findings into clear, decision-useful reports for executive leadership and Board committees.
• Oversee regulatory examination defense and disclosure governance with regulators and partners.
• Foster a global, risk-aware compliance culture across engineering, sales, and other teams.
• Support strategic FCC program priorities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build and lead a high-performing global second‑line team.
