Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Senior AIX Systems Administrator to support IBM Power and AIX environments critical to banking platforms. The role involves 24x7 on‑call support, disaster recovery, and automation to ensure high availability of production systems.

The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with AIX, Power hardware, VIOS, HMC, and PowerVM, and a strong background in regulatory compliance including FFIEC, PCI-DSS, and SOX.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in systems engineering and systems programming.
• Experience with IBM Power hardware and AIX 7.x.
• Strong Unix shell scripting skills (ksh, bash, sh).
• Experience with automation (Ansible) and Terraform.
• Experience in highly regulated industries, preferably banking or financial services.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IBM AIX operating systems across environments.
• Perform installation, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of AIX systems.
• Monitor performance and capacity; proactively resolve infrastructure issues.
• Manage file systems, storage allocation, VGs, LVs, and resources.
• Coordinate hardware refreshes, migrations, and capacity planning.
