Job description

STS Technical Services is hiring a Senior Aircraft Structures Engineer for a remote work opportunity.

Position Overview :

The Sr. Structures Engineer reports to the Director, Structures Engineering and is responsible for managing engineering data, instructions, documents, and providing technical support to ensure the safety, airworthiness, and reliability of airline aircraft within specific ATA chapters: 25, 27 (structural aspects), 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 71 (structural aspects), and 78 (structural aspects).

Major Job Accountabilities :
  1. Guide and support Structures Engineering staff.
  2. Issue instructions and documents to support safe, timely aircraft operations and return to service.
  3. Develop plans and documents to comply with FARs, ADs, NPRMs, and address in-service issues.
  4. Participate in industry working groups, steering committees, and conferences.
  5. Support integration of new and existing aircraft models.
  6. Liaise with manufacturers, maintenance providers, repair & overhaul facilities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  7. Review work of consultants, contractors, and MRO Structures Engineers.
  8. Evaluate regulations, notices, directives, and notifications related to aircraft in-service issues.
  9. Develop or obtain approved data and AMOCs for repairs and modifications.
  10. Manage CPCP evaluations, develop corrective actions for corrosion findings, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  11. Assess discrepancies requiring FAA reporting and submit reports accordingly.
  12. Develop product improvement modifications based on reliability data.
  13. Collaborate with OEMs on emerging issues to ensure safety, airworthiness, and minimize economic impact.
  14. Organize and develop documentation for aircraft structures modifications and repairs within schedule and budget.
  15. Provide technical support to operations teams and other personnel, including 24/7 support.
  16. Implement Repair Assessment Program (RAP) and comply with aging aircraft programs like WFD.
  17. Recommend maintenance program changes and updates to documentation.
Qualifications :
  • Minimum 5 years of Aircraft Structural Engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Engineering.
  • Ability to follow instructions thoroughly.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate work production.
  • Consistent output meeting expectations.
  • High alertness and task commitment.
  • Perceptive and adaptable, with the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
