Description

NOTE: This is a remote position with the expectation of occasional travel to a client site near Amarillo, Texas.

Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering and consulting to the management and operating contractors for the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). You will be part of multi-discipline teams developing and designing facilities, systems, and equipment for the nation’s major research laboratories and the legacy nuclear weapons production complex. This critical engineering work is meaningful and challenging – a career opportunity to be proud of. This is a senior-level design engineering position with a focus on Structural Engineering, offering challenging opportunities and excellent career advancement prospects.

Responsibilities
  1. Support structural design engineering efforts within multi-disciplinary project teams.
  2. Apply structural engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components.
  3. Prepare engineering calculations, analyses, design drawings, specifications, and reports.
  4. Manage tasks within schedule and budget to meet project needs.
  5. Attend project meetings, perform field walkdowns, communicate with clients, and summarize meeting notes clearly and promptly.
  6. Mentor new engineers.
Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; dual citizenship with another country does not qualify.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Ability to obtain US Government security clearance.
  • BSCE or BSSE degree or similar from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in civil and structural engineering.
  • Experience with designing foundations, structures, and support structures.
Valued but not required
  • Experience in a nuclear environment (DOE preferred), commercial, or Navy.
  • Structural Engineering (SE) Licensure.
  • Field engineering and construction experience.
  • Knowledge of ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC standards.
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis software such as ANSYS or SAP2000.
