Job summary

Avalara is scaling an AI-first enterprise platform to automate tax, finance, and operations using AI workflow tools like n8n. As a Senior DevOps Engineer for AI workflows, you will design, deploy, and run a secure, enterprise-grade infrastructure with governance, security, observability, and reliability baked in.

You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of Avalara's AI workflow infrastructure, establishing platform ownership, implementing guardrails, and driving SRE maturity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering for SaaS or large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and multi-environment infra.
• Hands-on use of Terraform or equivalent IaC and secure secret management.
• Proven ownership of CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and security scanning.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end lifecycle of Avalara's AI workflow infrastructure.
• Define platform ownership for AI workflows (n8n and related tools).
• Embed Secure-by-Design governance, IAM boundaries, and guardrails.
• Drive reliability, observability, and SLOs across production systems.
• Mentor engineers and promote reusable patterns and templates.
