Job summary

Avalara is seeking an AI Automation Engineer to lead enterprise-scale automation initiatives using n8n as the core orchestration platform. The role focuses on scalable, secure automation that reduces manual effort and accelerates AI-driven transformation across functions.

You will design hybrid patterns with n8n, Boomi, APIs, and AI agents, embedding AI-driven decisioning and observability into core workflows while driving governance and best practices across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a technical field and 10+ years of enterprise automation/workflow engineering experience are required.
• Experience with n8n or Boomi and building AI-enabled automations is essential.
• Strong leadership, mentorship, and governance capabilities for large automation programs.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise-wide AI automation and transformation strategy with n8n as a core platform.
• Architect scalable, secure automation solutions, embedding AI-driven workflows and agents.
• Define patterns for AI-driven workflows and governance across functions.
• Lead architecture reviews and set automation design standards and best practices.
