Job summary

Avalara is scaling an AI-first automation platform. We seek a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, deploy, and operate the enterprise AI workflow infrastructure around n8n and related tools, with governance, security, observability, and reliability at the core.

You will own the platform lifecycle, set SLOs, CI/CD, and IaC across dev/test/prod, mentor engineers, and guide citizen developers toward reusable, auditable patterns that improve speed, quality, and reliability of automations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering for SaaS or large-scale distributed systems with production ownership.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and multi-environment infra design.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Avalara's AI workflow infrastructure across environments.
• Define and drive SLOs, metrics, logging, and alerting for the AI platform.
• Embed security, privacy, and compliance into pipelines and baselines (Secure-by-Design).
• Create reusable patterns (templates, IaC modules) for teams using AI workflows.
• Partner with architecture, security, and governance teams to raise platform maturity.
