Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience building data-intensive or distributed systems.
• Experience designing production data pipelines and platforms using big data, streaming, or cloud-native tech.
• Experience collaborating with product, analytics, and data science to deliver scalable data solutions.
• Hands-on experience building agentic solutions or skills with major AI tools and internal platform tools.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable data pipelines and services for large, diverse data sets.
• Design data models, storage patterns, and processing frameworks for real-time and batch workloads.
• Lead design reviews, code reviews, and best-practice guidance for Big Data solutions.
• Mentor engineers on data quality, resiliency, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, data science, and platform teams to translate requirements into data solutions and APIs.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring, and alerting for data services.
• Evaluate new big data technologies to improve productivity and scalability.
• Document data flows and runbooks; contribute to shared standards for Big Data engineering.
• Build the context layer and agentic platform tools used across Zillow at scale.
