Job summary

AZX in Seattle is seeking a Software Engineer to build models and implement an agentic, formally-grounded solution that addresses client issues with strict compliance and tariffs. You'll bridge research and production, packaging, testing, CI, and documentation, delivering a reliable interface for AZX engineers to provide provably correct answers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of productionization experience taking prototypes or research code to production with packaging, tests, CI, observability, and docs.
• Deep knowledge of formal methods including SMT solvers, automated theorem proving, or related search techniques.
• Experience in data modeling and shape validation using SHACL/RDF/OWL/SPARQL or equivalent.
• Agentic AI literacy with LLM agents and understanding failure modes.
• Strong Python and general software engineering skills.
• Ability to work with a principal engineer/inventor with constructive candor.
• Familiarity with Z3/SMT/SAT, constraint programming, SHACL/RDF/OWL/SPARQL, and Postgres.
• Experience with test engineering for formal systems and CI/release discipline.

Responsibilities

• Take the research-grade formal/agentic system to production with packaging, tests, CI, documentation, and a usable release.
• Own architecture for reliability, packaging, test coverage, typing, CI, performance, and release discipline of the formal/agentic system.
• Wrap solver runs in agent loops and define touchpoints when a proof fails.
• Model client business rules as mechanical constraints and shapes to keep models honest.
• Reason over per-customer digital twins, checking changes against constraints before touching the real system.
• Define where LLM agents may assist and where they must not assert.
• Make proof results legible to clients by clearly communicating what was checked and what was not.
