Job summary

BCforward is seeking an AI Software Engineer III to join our AI agentic engineering team in Farmington Hills, MI. You will work on Python, TypeScript, AWS, and infrastructure as code to design and deliver cross-service enforcement guardrails and scalable backend services.

The role emphasizes building robust APIs, observability, and defensive programming with a focus on contract stability across services. This is a contract position with potential onsite Cincinnati preference noted by supplier.

Qualifications

• Strong Python and TypeScript coding skills with production-grade standards.
• Extensive AWS experience including Lambda, Fargate, API Gateway.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform.
• Ability to design scalable backend services and APIs across services.
• Experience defining enforcement patterns and contracts for other teams.
• Systems thinking for cross-service dependencies and failure propagation.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver backend services and APIs enforcing system behavior across services.
• Define where enforcement, filtering, and validation should occur in architectures.
• Build cross-service controls and establish reusable patterns for engineers.
• Instrument observability with structured logging, metrics, and tracing across boundaries.
• Own shared tooling and platform components with broad reach in the org.
• Mentor engineers on safe design, defensive programming and failure handling.
