Job summary

AWS is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed with a strategic enterprise customer, designing, building and operating AI-powered production systems alongside the customer's engineering team. You will translate business requirements into robust technical designs and deliver end-to-end AI workstreams with measurable customer impact.

This role requires US citizenship with TS/SCI clearance and Polygraph, 30–50% travel, and a proven track record of shipping production-grade software,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 2+ years in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus).
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Understand the business and customer value of the systems you build and translate requirements into technical designs for AI-enabled production systems.
• Design and develop production-grade software powering AI and agentic workflows and integrate foundation models and data sources.
• Own production for your workstream, including monitoring, incident troubleshooting, and CI/CD improvements.
• Mentor and uplift: coach others on producing high-quality code and participate in code reviews.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators for future deployments.
