Symbiotic Services in Saint Paul, MN, United States, seeks a Senior Software Engineer – AI II to design and build AI-powered software for enterprise tax and accounting workflows. You will collaborate with Product, UX, and Data/Science teams, lead POCs, and drive scalable AI solutions that align with business goals.

The role emphasizes RAG architectures, AI agents, production ML pipelines, and strong ML/Ops practices, with a hybrid in-office/remote work setup and a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years focused on AI/ML.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with experience building web applications, distributed systems, and APIs.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Deep understanding of AI systems, including RAG architectures, AI agents, and agent-based systems.
• Experience integrating AI models into production environments using APIs and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and search-based AI solutions.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, model evaluation, system design, and end-to-end MLOps.
• A passion for learning new technologies and advancing modern engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced AI systems, including multi-component pipelines, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, and custom AI agents.
• Ensure system quality, reliability, and compliance through strong testing frameworks, monitoring solutions, and responsible AI practices.
• Proactively identify risks and performance issues, making data-driven recommendations and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners across Product, UX, and Data/Science teams to align AI capabilities with business objectives.
• Lead and execute proof-of-concepts (POCs) to evaluate emerging technologies and innovative AI use cases.
• Review existing systems and recommend improvements to scalability, performance, and overall architecture.
• Stay current with evolving AI technologies and promote continuous learning and adoption across the team.
