Job summary

Dataminr is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to tackle real-time AI problems in threat and risk intelligence. You will train and adapt LLMs, build multimodal and agentic systems, and push state-of-the-art research into Dataminr products. This hybrid role can be based in New York City or Arlington, VA, with collaboration across a diverse team.

You will publish findings, mentor teammates, and help shape how organizations respond to unfolding events through fast, reliable AI solutions.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science or related field with depth in LLMs, agents, or multimodal AI.
• Publications at NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, AAAI, COLM, or CVPR.
• Hands-on experience training and adapting models at scale with Python and PyTorch.
• Comfort with tooling like vLLM and Langfuse for rapid iteration.
• Ability to design experiments with principled, measurable metrics.
• Ability to own research projects end-to-end and mentor teammates.
• Leadership in cross-functional guidance and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI models that decide in seconds whether a burst of posts signals a real event across 150 languages, scaling to global data.
• Advance multimodal and LLM research by creating systems that verify content and generate accurate briefs as events unfold.
• Ship research into Dataminr products used by organizations worldwide with an emphasis on reliability.
• Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and domain experts to deliver measurable value to customers.
• Share work with the broader community through publications and collaborations.
