Job summary

Dataminr in Arlington, VA (with NYC option) seeks a Senior Director of AI Engineering to lead the team building the AI engine powering our real-time intelligence platform. You will bridge AI research and production, shaping strategies that translate complex AI into tangible business impact.

You will partner with product and research, foster collaboration, and empower engineers to ship end-to-end AI solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in CS or EE.
• 7+ years as a software engineer in a cloud-native environment (AWS, Kubernetes).
• 5+ years leading software engineers in an AI team.
• Experience with DL frameworks, LLMs, agent harnesses, and AI systems (PyTorch, Langfuse, LangGraph, Weaviate, A2A).
• Hands-on deploying ML/DL/LLMs at scale in NLP, CV, IR or related real-time domains.
• Proven track record delivering multiple complex AI projects.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all technical aspects of AI model outputs affecting content quality.
• Collaborate with PMs and teams to define performance requirements for DL/ML models.
• Drive state-of-the-art solutions at scale across real-time event detection.
• Define and track quality and cost metrics for models and end-to-end performance.
• Hands-on modification of workflows, evaluations, and outputs of models.
• Lead engineers and scientists, guiding changes to technical approaches.
