Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer for the Starmind project to lead end-to-end design of high-performance satellite electronics. You’ll own the hardware lifecycle, from concept through flight readiness, interfacing with mechanical, thermal, software, and test teams to meet demanding mission requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or physics.
• 5+ years of industry experience designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware.
• Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or similar engineering degree (preferred).
• 2+ years of professional experience rapidly designing and delivering highly reliable products (preferred).
• 2+ years of experience designing hardware from concept through production; full life-cycle development.
• 2+ years of experience designing and implementing mixed-signal boards using processors, FPGAs, Ethernet, Serdes, DRAM interfaces, and analog/digital components.
• Strong understanding of Python and C/C++.
• 2+ years of aerospace systems experience (preferred).
• Ability to work cross-functionally across mechanical, thermal, software, and test teams.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly develop high-reliability electronics for satellites and spacecraft.
• Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, hardware bring-up, debugging, documentation, manufacturing, test, and on-orbit performance.
• Hands-on support for hardware through production, satellite integration, and flight.
• Determine layer stackup, component placement, routing studies, and signal integrity for PCBs.
• Create and maintain library components and fabrication documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and PCB vendors to improve design rules and testability.
• Work with civil, mechanical, thermal, software, test engineering, supply chain, and silicon design teams to deliver high-performance hardware.
• Challenge assumptions, learn from mistakes, and approach problems with an open mind.
