Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for the AI Satellites Starmind program in the United States. You will own hardware from conceptual design through production and on-orbit operation, focusing on large deployable radiators, solar arrays, and high-volume packaging for compute trays.

The role requires CAD/FEA proficiency, 5+ years in mechanical/electromechanical design, and leadership experience. You will drive system trades, DFx, and test validation in a spaceflight environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in engineering.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages.
• 5+ years in mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from conceptual design through production and on-orbit operation for the Starmind constellation.
• Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization.
• Iterate designs and analyses to inform system trades and guide product direction.
• Design for high-volume production with DFM to reduce parts and errors.
• Coordinate supply chain to enable an efficient in-house production line.
• Perform environmental and performance testing to validate criteria.
• Manage delivery timeline from conception to launch.
• Demonstrate ownership of product outcomes at all stages.
