Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Applied Researcher 5 to advance AI foundations and deliver real-world AI solutions for banking customers. You will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and product managers to move models from design to deployment.

You will work with PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace and Lightning to build scalable models, perform high-impact research and translate insights into tangible customer experiences.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, AI or related field, or MS with required experience.
• Demonstrated research excellence with ML/AI publications or projects.
• Experience delivering models at scale and production-ready solutions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with data scientists, software engineers, ML engineers and PMs to deliver AI-powered products.
• Leverage PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, Lightning to extract insights from large data.
• Build AI foundation models from design through training, evaluation and deployment.
• Lead applied research translating findings into production-ready capabilities.
• Translate complex work into tangible business goals.
• Bridge prototype model development and deployment with ML engineering for production impact.
