Job summary

Capital One National Association seeks an Applied Researcher 5 to advance AI foundations and agentic AI in our banking applications. You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to build production-ready AI models and scalable infrastructure.

You will lead research efforts, translate findings into business value, and push the state-of-the-art toward real customer impact. This role emphasizes responsible, scalable AI and strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with required years of experience in Applied Research as stated in the Basic Qualifications.
• Strong foundation in AI methodologies and large language models.
• Experience delivering AI libraries or platform-level code to products.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how customers interact with their money.
• Leverage PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning to analyze large numeric and textual data.
• Build AI foundation models through design, training, evaluation, and deployment stages.
• Translate research insights into production impact with ML engineering partners.
• Communicate complex work in business terms to drive outcomes.
• Lead research threads bridging prototype models and production systems.
