U.S. Bank is seeking a Principal AI Research Scientist to join the AI CoE, a high-impact group advancing the bank's AI strategy from research to deployment.

The role blends deep scientific expertise with software engineering and solution delivery to move ideas from exploration to production. You will evaluate emerging AI advances, prototype novel solutions, and drive their evolution into scalable enterprise capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Eight or more years of AI/ML research, development, and deployment.
• Strong programming skills in Python and modern AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience designing, building, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• Experience across the full lifecycle of AI product development, from research and experimentation through deployment.
• Experience developing AI solutions within regulated industries.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, evaluate, and experiment with emerging AI technologies and industry trends.
• Identify opportunities to apply advanced AI techniques to financial services.
• Conduct original AI research and exploratory investigations to assess feasibility and value.
• Develop hypotheses, design experiments, evaluate results, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Lead the transition of prototypes into production-ready AI capabilities.
