Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Principal AI Research Scientist to join the AI CoE, driving from research to production in a highly regulated financial services setting.

You will prototype, evaluate, and deploy AI solutions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, security, and compliance teams to deliver scalable enterprise capabilities.

This role requires hands-on leadership, strong Python skills, and a track record of translating complex AI concepts into measurable business value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Eight or more years of relevant AI/ML experience.
• Strong programming in Python and modern AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience designing, building, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI research and innovation across emerging technologies (generative AI, LLMs, multimodal AI).
• Prototype and productionize AI solutions end-to-end from data prep to deployment.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists on advanced AI techniques and best practices.
• Partner with product, security, and compliance to scale solutions in a regulated environment.
