Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Principal AI Research Scientist to join the AI Center of Excellence and lead research-to-deployment of enterprise AI capabilities. You will evaluate advances, prototype solutions, and drive adoption while balancing innovation, security, and regulatory requirements.

The role spans R&D to production, requiring deep AI expertise, software engineering skills, and the ability to mentor engineers and data scientists. Location allows three+ days on-site per week at a U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Eight or more years of relevant AI/ML experience.
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI, ML, Data Science, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, evaluate, and experiment with emerging AI technologies and industry trends.
• Develop prototypes and transition them to production-grade AI solutions.
• Lead the development of generative AI and agentic systems.
• Partner with engineers and stakeholders to deploy AI capabilities and guide technical leadership.
