Job summary

EY is seeking a senior engineering leader to advance AI-enabled services with secure, observable cloud foundations. You will shape architectures, review migrations, and guide cost, performance, and resilience decisions across diverse use cases in a challenging, hands-on role.

You will apply your depth of experience in cloud engineering, automation, and incident leadership to ensure production readiness and durable improvements while partnering with Challenger teams across the firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 9–12+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing and operating cloud/infrastructure/platform/SRE capabilities in production.
• Technical depth to solve complex distributed-system problems.
• Hands-on expertise with infrastructure as code, modern runtime platforms, networking, identity, and delivery automation.
• Production reliability: defining service objectives and using observability, capacity planning, and recovery testing to improve live systems.
• Incident leadership: investigating difficult failures and driving durable remediation.
• Automation judgment: strong coding skills and ability to validate AI-generated or automated engineering output.
• Cross-team influence: mentoring engineers and guiding architecture/readiness decisions without formal delivery ownership.
• Travel up to 50% and hybrid on-site work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build shared cloud foundations and deployment automation for rapid team onboarding.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering responsibly, reviewing and validating results.
• Review architectures, migrations, and releases for reliability, security, performance, and cost trade-offs.
• Define evidence and readiness criteria before launches; identify changes for reliable operation.
• Establish service objectives, observability standards, and actionable alerts.
• Test workload assumptions using performance, consumption, and demand evidence to guide scaling and architecture decisions.
• Lead deep investigations of failures and verify root causes across distributed services.
• Design resilience tests, recovery exercises, and rollback paths for stressed services.
• Publish reusable reference implementations, guidance, and runbooks with clear operating boundaries.
• Coach engineers and transition capabilities to ongoing owners.
