Job summary

Target is seeking a Senior Engineer – AI Platforms, Forward Deployed Engineering, to accelerate enterprise AI adoption by partnering with engineering and product teams. You will design, build, and productionize AI-powered applications using Target's platform, delivering scalable, secure, production-ready solutions.

You will lead architecture discussions, mentor engineers, and drive patterns, APIs, and reusable components across engagements.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Experience designing, building, testing, deploying, and operating production-grade applications or distributed systems.
• Experience with LLMs, model APIs, agentic frameworks, retrieval/context patterns or related AI capabilities.
• Strong API, SDK, libraries, frameworks, or platform capabilities.
• Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into concrete technical designs and working software.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering and product teams to design, build, and productionize AI-powered applications.
• Develop production-grade solutions using enterprise AI platforms and tools.
• Lead technical implementation across the lifecycle from prototyping to production operations.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend approaches based on scalability and security.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards within the team.
