Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Support Engineer to partner with strategic enterprise accounts and product teams, addressing highly technical challenges in a fast-paced AI environment.

You will design scalable incident response, automate monitoring, and collaborate with Infrastructure and Engineering to ensure reliability and rapid resolutions for customers worldwide. This role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience leading incident response for high-severity outages.
• Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and tracing for distributed systems.
• Hands-on skills in scripting to automate tasks (e.g., Python).
• Familiarity with cloud services, load balancers, databases, and containers.

Responsibilities

• Design and run operational processes to monitor strategic customers and a 24x7 response team.
• Scale support operations through automation and AI-driven improvements.
• Configure monitoring and alerting to detect real-time customer-impacting issues.
• Collaborate with engineering for reliability reviews and feature readiness.
• Refine incident response processes and post-incident follow-ups.
• Analyze metrics and RCAs to improve dashboards, alerts, and workflows.
• Provide support coverage during holidays and weekends.
