Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Staff AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to help build responsible and reliable AI systems for banking. You will partner with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.

The role requires deep expertise in foundation models, LLMs, and scalable AI infrastructure. You’ll design, train, deploy, and optimize AI software components, mentor senior teams, and help set

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with extensive AI/ML experience.
• 10+ years programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
• Experience architecting AI platforms with scalable, cost-efficient solutions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components (foundation models, LLMs, agents).
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech (AWS, HuggingFace, VectorDBs, PyTorch).
• Develop optimization techniques to improve performance, latency, and cost of production AI systems.
• Contribute to technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems at Capital One.
• Define and steer AI architecture vision with reliability and scale.
• Lead establishment of AI safety, governance, and transparency standards.
