Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced AI Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate reusable software and runtime capabilities enabling AI/ML solutions across RTX. You will work with AI Architects, Applied AI Engineers, and enterprise teams to deliver secure, scalable platform services.

The role emphasizes production-grade backend platforms, not just infrastructure deployment, with hybrid work options and collaboration across security, data, and product teams.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
• 5+ years hands-on software engineering experience developing backend services, APIs, distributed systems, cloud platforms, or similar production software.
• Programming experience using Python, Java, C#, or another modern backend language with production software experience.
• Experience designing and building APIs, microservices, distributed services, event-driven systems, or other backend platform capabilities.
• Experience with cloud-native engineering including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code, and deploying on major cloud platforms.
• Experience with production observability and operations including logging, metrics, tracing, monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate scalable backend services, APIs, and distributed platform capabilities that support enterprise AI apps, models, and agents.
• Build and integrate AI platform capabilities including model access, routing, gateways, runtimes, lifecycle management, tool integration, and model serving.
• Develop secure capabilities for identity, authentication/authorization, secrets management, tool access, and integration with enterprise systems.
• Design and automate deployment across development, test, and production using cloud-native tech, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and IaC.
• Build observability capabilities including logging, metrics, tracing, monitoring, alerting, and cost visibility for AI workloads.
• Develop platform capabilities supporting AI evaluation, model lifecycle management, MLOps, configuration, versioning, and production operations.
• Design platform services for scalability, availability, resilience, performance, security, and cross-environment support.
