Job summary

Stord, headquartered in Atlanta, seeks a senior engineer to build and scale AI-enabled platform features for logistics optimization. You will develop Elixir services, integrate ML models, and design scalable, observable systems across the stack.

You will work with data scientists and ML engineers to deploy models, build real-time data pipelines, and create robust APIs for AI features, while mentoring others in best practices.

Qualifications

• Expert Elixir/Phoenix development with production systems.
• TypeScript proficiency for multi-language stack.
• Distributed systems knowledge with fault tolerance and supervision patterns.
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Strong SQL expertise (PostgreSQL); familiarity with AlloyDB preferred.
• Experience with modern messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Hands-on cloud experience (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Performance optimization for high-throughput, low-latency services.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
• Learning agility for evolving AI/ML tech and tools.

Responsibilities

• Build Elixir services consuming ML predictions from Modal.com, Vertex AI, and other platforms.
• Integrate AI features with edge-based inference and intelligent fallbacks.
• Develop real-time data pipelines and ML model feeding.
• Create AI-powered recommendations for logistics optimization and demand planning.
• Design scalable platform architecture with monitoring and observability.
• Build APIs for LLM integration with rate limiting and error handling.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to deploy models.
• Mentor other engineers on AI tool usage and patterns.
