Job summary

Axon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Corporate AI Team to design, build, and scale the internal AI platform (Cortex) that supports thousands of Axon employees with secure, production-grade AI experiences.

You will own core services, partner with data engineering and business teams, and help define best practices for GPT/LLM workloads while ensuring reliability, security, and observability across Axon’s cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Java.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Understanding of web services, APIs, authentication/authorization, observability, and CI/CD.
• Interest or experience in AI/LLMs and related tooling (OpenAI, Bedrock, etc.).
• Knowledge of security best practices (secrets, least-privilege, audit logging).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Own core services and integrations powering AI experiences for Axon employees.
• Collaborate with Corporate AI, Data Engineering, and business teams to turn workflows into AI-powered tools.
• Define patterns for deploying AI-driven applications across cloud environments.
• Design, build, and operate internal AI platform components (Cortex) and integrations.
• Drive end-to-end lifecycle of AI features from prototype to production.
• Evaluate AI services for fit, performance, and cost; implement chosen options.
• Develop monitoring, alerting, and auditing for AI services.
