Job summary

Virtus Insurance is seeking a Senior Manager for AI Engineering & Platform to design, build, and maintain the tech foundation powering AI and operations. You will be the first dedicated engineering hire, shipping production code and setting architecture and standards for the next decade of growth.

You will own data platform and API strategy, partner with external analytics teams, and lead scalable, secure solutions across cloud environments.

Qualifications

5+ years of engineering across full-stack and data engineering.
Early engineering hire or autonomous production systems experience.
Proficient in Python, SQL and TypeScript.
Cloud experience with Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable.
Daily use of AI-assisted development tools and LLM tech.
Able to deploy and maintain production systems end-to-end.
Strong written and verbal communication for executives.

Responsibilities

Own Virtus' data platform and coordinate with external analytics partners.
Define technical requirements, evaluate architecture and data models, oversee vendor solutions.
Ensure data warehouse structures support operations, reporting and AI initiatives.
Design, build, and maintain a Virtus API layer for enterprise integrations.
Provide technical leadership across the technology portfolio.
Establish platform standards for security, deployment, and governance.
